New Series: Favorites Friday!

Happy Friday everyone! I hope your weeks have gone well! I worked Tuesday-Thursday but thankfully I don't have to work today, which means I got to sleep in!! It's always such a good feeling to get extra sleep! So today I decided to start a series, Favorites Friday!! I'm just going to share with you all a few things that I've been loving! It may not happen every Friday, just depends on if I have anything new I'd like to share with you all!

#SheReadsTruth: Women in the Bible devotional. Even though I've only been doing it a few days now, I really have loved it and its been a great way to start off my early mornings! I normally don't do any deep reading in the mornings {normally because I'm just lazy or don't have time} but since I'm nannying I've been able to do it! And it really has been a great start to my day!

Kisses From Katie. It's a great book and has really started my interest and need to go out and do missions and help those who need me. I've always had such a love and want to help orphans, and we are commanded to help orphans and widows. I have always wanted to adopt, and really hope that God has planned that in my life! It would be such a joy to be able to help a precious little life, start a new life!

My bible. It should always be a favorite, but lately I've just loved it! It used to just be this book that would sit on my nightstand and remind me of when I don't read, but now I just love it. I have written and underlined in it and have just gotten to know The Lord throughout this whole process. It in a way is something I am proud of because I have accomplished more than I thought I would, and I've grown so much from it!

My new home. A month ago I moved into a house with new roommates. I was so nervous because I didn't want anything to happen with my new friendships because of past roommates... But it has been wonderful! I can be myself and I actually have hung out with my roommate who lives here now {other two are still at home}. I just can be myself and we have our spiritual lives in common. Just has been so good for me and a great experience so far!

I've really just been enjoying life lately and have been content with everything. I used to only focus on the future because I never felt that whatever was going on in the present was as good as {I hope} my future will be. I'm living life and just getting to know God, and it's such a good feeling to have on a daily basis!

What have been your favorite things lately?? :)

Weekend Recap.

Good morning everyone! I currently am sitting at the dentist office waiting to get my teeth cleaned, watching it pour down rain outside... what a great way to start a Monday, right?! Lol

This past weekend I went with 8 other friends to Red River Gorge! We rented a cabin and went hiking {which was all new for me, considering I've never been hiking before!} but it was such a nice little getaway, with some great friends! We went to Natural Bridge on Friday, and then hiked down to a swimming hole on Saturday... So overall we hiked about 8.5 miles!! {can't believe I did it} Here are some pictures...

This was our cabin! it was so nice, and heres the view from off the back porch!

Natural Bridge hike, and the beautiful sunset!!

And here is a stream we stopped at to take a break! So pretty.

It was such a great weekend to experience Gods beautiful masterpiece all over again!

I will be starting some new series this weekend {meant to on Friday, but was busy trying to leave for the Gorge!} So be looking out for those! Thanks for reading! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Its Monday, again!

Why do the weekends always go by so fast?! I swear its like you blink and its Sunday night again, and you have to get ready for the next week of work or school or whatever you may be doing! Just doesn't seem right, lol.

This summer I have been nannying two little boys. It hasn't been an every day of the week deal, but this week I do watch them Monday through Thursday! So this morning I woke up (bright and early) at 7 am, to get ready and head to their house! They don't do much for the first couple of hours so it gives me a chance to wake up myself! Lol. After their dad came home, I had to go over to my old apartment complex to clean my room and have it inspected so that I can be OFFICIALLY moved out!! :D I could not be more excited to finally have the past two years behind me, so that I can begin a new start in my life. The past two years with roommates haven't been the best, but I completely acknowledge that it isn't one person or the other! It is definitely hard to live with someone, and I have finally realized that!! In the past I have been looking for my roommate to be my best friend, but that does not always happen, sometimes they are just simply roommates. I wouldn't, though, change anything that has happened in the past because it has made me who I am today and has made me more independent! I really am thankful for all of the experiences that God has put in front of me because it has made my faith stronger and I have been able to learn that God really does have everything in control. And so far, my experience at the new house I am living in has been wonderful (with the one roommate who is here)!!

If you are having a hard time with a roommate, first realize that it is not for forever! You are not stuck living with that person for the rest of your life. And second, don't be the bad person! Maybe they actually need someone to talk to or maybe they don't, but don't be rude to them.. try to be the bigger person!

I hope you all have had a great Monday, and that you all have a great rest of the week! If you need to talk about anything, please feel free to email me! I would love to talk, or to give any advice that I possibly could! (And please know that I am in no way an expert about any of this, simply just my experiences!)

A few things about me!

Hey everyone! It's Wednesday!! Yay! Only 2 more days until the weekend :) I hope everyone's weeks have gone well so far! I wanted to write a post telling you a little bit about myself! So here goes nothing...

•I am about to go into my junior year at the University of Kentucky, and I am studying Elementary Education. I love kids! They are truly a passion in my life. (And I basically spend all of my time with them anyways... seeing as how I'm writing this post while the kids I am watching this summer are sleeping, lol) I know that God has placed such a passion in my heart for a reason, and I can't wait to glorify Him in my future career!

•I have been dating my wonderful boyfriend for almost 5 years next month! The story how we met is crazy, but awesome! We aren't from the same town so we didn't go to school together and had no connections... but long story short, I was texting a friend back and forth and somehow my reply went to my boyfriend without me even typing in his number (even different area code) or doing anything! I truly believe that God did that and it was in His plans for our lives. I seriously could not see my life without him. He is my best friend and has been there by my side through so much. He is such a selfless person and has such a big heart! (He blogs too! Here is a link to his blog, http://dreesehudson.wordpress.com/ ) But I could go on for days about him.. maybe in another post I will!

•I have fallen in love with God, and I truly know that he loves me too. Last September I decided to rededicate my life to Christ and it has been such a great journey since then! I have been more comfortable with myself, knowing that God made me perfectly in His eyes. I have been more positive in day to day life and have overall just been happier. God truly has changed my life and I am continuing to get to know Him.

•I LOVE SWEET TEA! It's a southern thing! Last year I went to Delaware for a wedding and we took our own sweet tea from Chick-Fil-A because we knew they wouldn't have any, or even know how to make it! If I don't have it for awhile, I start having withdrawals... Yup... definitely a problem!

•I am a very quiet, shy person. I really do not like being in loud areas. But if I feel comfortable (which I am working on getting out of always having to be in my comfort zone) and I know you pretty well then I can be outgoing.

•I am very organized! And I love pens! Lol I have my planner all color coordinated and love writing in it! And I always have everything pretty neat, and rarely have a messy room (It just drives me crazy!!) Needless to say my future classroom will be very organized.

•I know a lot of girls can't wait until they can get married and start a life with someone, but I truly cannot wait until the day that I get to wake up next to my best friend and just love him every day. I can't wait until I get to cook for him and just overall go through life together glorifying God. I feel like that is really what God has placed me on this Earth to do. To take care of a husband and my children, and to glorify God while doing so. And to have our family as testimony of what a great marriage can look like and how you can teach your children about Gods love and how to obey him. (just thinking about it I get really excited!!)

•One last thing, I recently applied to go on a mission trip in October! I have never been on one before, let alone out of the country! And I cannot wait! I know that it will be completely different than the life and the world I am used to, but Christianity isn't meant to be comfortable... to do Gods will you have to step outside of your box, to help others who need you! I can't wait to see what God has in store for me and how much I can grow closer to Him throughout the process! Please pray for me for this trip, that I will be able to truly acknowledge God and be able to glorify Him and teach others about the love of Jesus!

I think that will be all for today! Hope you got to know a little about me! :) Also, if anyone knows how to do an "About me" it would be wonderful if you could help show me how!

First Post!

Hello everyone! I am new at this whole blog thing, but can't wait to get the swing of it! Lately I have really been enjoying reading blogs, I just find them so calming and really interesting to read! And I also feel like I really know the person, even though I don't at all! But I wanted to tell you all why I started my blog and what my name means to me!

First of all, I started my blog not because I want to get a bunch of readers or to become one of the most popular blogs, but so that I can have an outlet. I want to be able to get on here and just talk to you guys (whoever reads this) and just share with you all my experiences and hope to help someone out there. I find sometimes that certain bloggers can really be an inspiration to me and make me think about things. So that is what I hope to be to someone, an inspiration.

I wanted to also tell you all why I chose the name Simply A Faithful Walk. I am a christian, and I truly have found a love for God and all that he has done for me. And for almost a year now I have been following him in this life that He has given me. It has not been a perfect walk, but it has been a walk of lessons and growing. I have started to truly rely on God for more things in life and have realized that I cannot live life without Him. Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:7, "For we walk by faith, not by sight." And I truly am starting to believe in that verse. That is why I wanted to name my blog that... because it is a faithful walk.

That is just a little bit about my blog and I can't wait to write more next time! My blog won't primarily be just about my walk, but also about other things that happen in my life and the experiences I have. I hope you all enjoyed this and come back for my next post!

Goodnight!

Danielle
